A professional disc jockey has several
responsibilities at a wedding reception that are associated with the
Master of Ceremonies duties. These include:
Arranging
the Bridal party for the “Grand Entrance” and announce them with
the prearranged song chosen by the bride and groom.
Coordinating with the photographer to get the bride and groom the
best shots. For example, some photographers prefer specific
lighting conditions for the first dance, father-daughter dance, etc.
Also, a good photographer can often eye the best location for the garter
toss, bouquet toss, and grand entrance.
Coordinating with the caterer or hotel staff to announce when your
guests can begin the buffet line and determine when the caterer needs to
begin pouring the Champaign or wine for the toast.
Instructing the Best Man and/or Maid/Matron of honor on how to use the
microphone properly for the toast.
Announcing and providing background music for the cake cutting
ceremony.
Making sure that the bride and groom are ready for their first dance
and politely introducing the special dance to their friends and family.
Locating
the parents of the bride and groom before it is time for them to dance
and informing them that the father-daughter or mother-son dance
will be starting soon.
Making sure the bride has her bouquet for the bouquet toss and
then excitingly announce the Garter and Bouquet toss.
If
there is a dollar dance, the DJ will explain to the guests how to
participate and organize how the “paying” dancers will cut in.
What if I
can't find my answer here?
Many questions can be answered in our FAQ. If you can't
find them here, simply give us a call or send us an email. We are always
glad to answer questions.
Why pay your price when I can get a cheaper DJ elsewhere?
Just
like anything, there are always lower prices somewhere. "Price" is
all that some DJ companies have to offer, especially if the company
is inexperienced or unknown. With some low priced DJ "farms" with
several operators, we find lower quality equipment and very limited
music collections. Since
they are usually working alone, low budget DJs won't be able to give their
undivided attention to your guests, happily taking their requests and
coordinate with the photographer, caterer, and wedding banquet coordinator
on demand.
Finally, various DJ companies pay their employees near minimum wage to
keep the prices low and therefore have a hard time keeping their best
employees once they gain experience, leaving their clients with
inexperienced or poor performing DJs almost all the time.
What
you have to determine is if you are getting the same quality of service at
a lower rate. It is difficult to price shop in this industry because
the services offered by separate disc jockey companies may not equally
compare.
I hear a lot of DJ horror stories. What makes your business so
different?
To
avoid being a horror story, we plan carefully for each event and review
the information with the bride or groom the week prior to the reception to
ensure that all our bases are covered such as name pronunciations, song
choices (or changes), and any specific needs are addressed.
To
make a difference, we:
always send two DJs to
each event so that we can take care of all the coordination and easily
make adjustments as they are needed along the way.
make sure someone is
available to take your guest's requests.
bring over 35,000 songs
including popular oldies to today's current hits in pop, adult
contemporary, R&B, rock, and country.
