Choose
the "right" music...
The
"perfect" music for your wedding's special dances should be unique and specific
to your own experiences and tastes. The songs should be well thought out.
Some avid music fans have known what song they want played at their reception
from the day that they fell in love, or before. Yet, for others, the task
can be grueling. It is even more difficult for those that don't listen to
the radio or purchase CDs. That is why we have created a list of popular
first dance, father-daughter, mother-son, wedding party dance, introductions,
bouquet toss, and garter toss songs. This list is not an "end all" source.
We are merely suggesting some options that are "danceable".
When
you choose a song, pick one that you can dance to. Then practice dancing
with you fiancé. If you are not used to dancing, consider taking some
basic dance lessons with your fiancé. There are dance instructors that
specialize in preparing brides and grooms for their first dance. Make the
first-dance a major part of your reception's theme, with a touch of class.

What about those
"Cheesy Songs?"
Occasionally,
I hear brides say that they don't want to have the Macarena, Chicken Dance,
Electric Slide, YMCA, and other "cheesy songs" played at their reception.
We always honor the requests of our clients and refrain from playing such
songs when requested to do so.
Yet,
before you totally write off the Macarena, consider this. There are
several "non-dancers" that feel less threatened when they can participate in
a popular "group dance" song. This might be their only chance to have
fun and participate at your reception. At least two or more of these
type of songs are usually requested at a typical reception from a guest.
There
are a lot of different tastes out there and a good DJ will touch on as many
of them as possible. Try not to discount too many songs just because
they've been labeled "cheesy." |
